Included with the shipment of each Literacy Center
from LeapFrog SchoolHouse are a complete Curriculum Manual and LeapMat
Activity Guide. Operating instructions for each of the three components
(LeapMat, LeapDesk and LeapPad) are also included. In addition to
these manuals, several Workshop and Professional Staff Development
options are available to meet any additional training needs. Below
are the descriptions of each.
Language to Reading: Staff Development Workshop
- Full Day (8:30 — 3:00pm)
- Travel expenses may be additional based on location
- “Keynote Speaker” level of presenter
- Introductory video that introduces the rationale of the program,
curriculum, and technology, and demonstrates use in the classroom
- Includes implementation guide for each attendee
- Includes both lecture style and hands-on learning
- Objectives include understanding the role of language to learning
to read and incorporating The Literacy Center into the current
curriculum

Overview: This full day seminar is appropriate for administrators,
reading specialists and teachers who want to learn about the most
current reading research, are targeting reading as part of a school-wide
or district-wide initiative and who are interested in combining
these academic objectives with a hands-on workshop with The Literacy
Center. The presenter is fluent in current research, early reading
skills imperative to becoming a successful reader as well as strategies
that work in the classroom.

Overview: This full day seminar is appropriate for administrators,
reading specialists and teachers who want to learn how early language
skills are critical to reading success. This seminar will focus
on the specific skills included in LFSH programs and on their integration
into the current classroom curriculum. The hands-on workshop segment
is designed to build teacher confidence in using both the lessons
and the electronic components.

Overview: This half-day seminar is appropriate for teachers who
will be introducing The Literacy Center into their curriculum. This
seminar will focus on the skills taught in the LC program and the
practical integration and management of the materials in the classroom.
Teachers will learn how the assessment, both formal and informal,
makes the program more effective in lesson planning and individualizing
student instruction.

Overview: This workshop series (2 half-day) is appropriate for
facilitators, site coordinators, administrators or teachers designated
as trainers for introducing The Literacy Center to their school
or district. The focus of the initial workshop is to provide a guided
approach to learning the program themselves, introducing the program
to staff, organizing curriculum integration with current instruction
and monitoring objectives. The second workshop is focused on evaluating
both the staff and student progress and preparing for further implementations.
