Our Commitment to ResearchLeapFrog SchoolHouse is committed to demonstrating learning gains for all of our products through dynamic and scientifically based research. Our research department seeks to adhere to the United States Department of Education's What Works Clearinghouse guidelines (WWC, http://w-w-c.org/), which calls for research to be systematic, rigorous and of open design (inviting peers and professionals to examine our methodology and raw data). The WWC also collects and validates examples of "gold standard" research to post on their website. The main goal of this framework of research is to gather information, explore relationships between variables, and identify causal relationships. The most effective way to examine causality is with experimental and/or quasi-experimental designs using randomized selection to identify matched sample and control groups. We have conducted, and continue to conduct, efficacy research in order to validate that our programs achieve demonstrable learning gains in the classroom. We have an advisory board of educational experts who are at the forefront of their fields working with our editorial team to ensure that our programs are pedagogically sound. We are committed to providing classroom programs that represent the best and most current research based educational findings. |
The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) contains the most sweeping changes to The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) since it was enacted in 1965. Among the president’s four basic education reform policies outlined in NCLB is an increased emphasis on teaching methods that have been proven to work. The most immediate developments along these lines include strict mandates for the evaluation of reading programs that will result in the likely elimination of programs that are unable to demonstrate effectiveness. |
