Research Basis
"LeapFrog SchoolHouse technology makes
it possible."
Our Commitment to Research
Scientifically based research plays a critical role in helping
social scientists learn information that can inform educational
policy. LeapFrog SchoolHouse is committed to conducting gold-standard
scientifically based research to demonstrate academic learning gains for all children.
At LeapFrog SchoolHouse, all of our programs are based on the latest
empirical and theoretical research about how children learn most
effectively. The foundation of our educational programs is examined
in conjunction with the findings from our scientifically based validity
and efficacy research. Our research department adheres to the United
States Department of Education's What Works Clearinghouse (WWC,
http://w-w-c.org/),
which calls for research to be systematic, rigorous and of open
design (inviting peers and professionals to examine our methodology
and raw data).

The main goal of research is to gather information, explore relationships
between variables, and to identify causal relationships. The most
effective way to examine causality is with a clinical-trial model
using randomized selection to identify matched sample and control
groups. This is also known as Scientifically Based Research. Once
there is existing evidence that a program is effective in educational
settings, districts and policy makers are able to make data-driven
decisions, based on fact.
